Sensational news!! TN CM to inaugurate the renovated Valluvar Kottam in Chennai!!
Valluvar Kottam, one of the highly famous landmarks in Chennai has undergone renovation for Rs 80 crores is known. The news that has come out now is that the Tamil Nadu chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin would inaugurate Valluvar Kottam either on 21st or 27th June. This was as per the Public Works department.
History of Valluvar Kottam:
In the year 1974, in the Nungambakkam- Kodambakkam junction, Valluvar Kottam was constructed in the memory of Tamil poet Tiruvalluvar. It is well known that Tiruvalluvar was responsible for world famous Thirukural. It must be noted that the Thiruvaur Azhi thaer was used as a model with Pallavakala sculpture and a stone chariot, was carved for a height of 128m. There is also a 3000 seater auditorium and kural manimadam on the upper side of the auditorium. From 1976 onwards, Valluvar Kottam became a famous tourist attraction in Chennai.
It is shocking to note that lack of proper maintenance has caused damage to Valluvar Kottam. It was decided to renovate Valluvar Kottam for Rs 80 cr and renovation works began on 18th January 2024.
Public visiting the Valluvar Kottam after renovation would be surprised to see renovation of art gallery, renovation of roof of kuralmani mada, renovation of floors, renovation of perimeter wall of the complex, sculpture works at the entrance plus new walkway for differently abled persons etc. Huge portrait of Valluvar has been installed on the roof of the art gallery. The main objective behind these is to attract more visitors to Valluvar Kottam.
Moreover there would also be rainwater drainage facilities, newly constructed 2lakh capacity storage tank, RO plants plus lawns, artificial fountains, sound displays, light displays etc. Not only these, a grand entrance has been made to give Valluvar Kottam a majestic appearance.
