This might be one of the most important days in the lives of several government school students.
The news is that Chengalpet district collector Mr. S. Arunraj flagged off the educational tour bus for the school students to make them visit the ancient symbol of Dakshinachitra situated in Muttukadu in Chennai.
It is learnt that 300 students from Thiruporur Government Girls Higher Secondary School, 350 students from Thiruporur Government Boys Higher Secondary School, 150 students from Kelambakkam Government Higher Secondary School and 50 girls from Kelambakkam Government Girls Higher secondary School etc.
In addition to these students, a total 0f 1425 students including 200 students belonging to Kovalam Government Higher Secondary School, 75 students from Nemmeli Government Higher Secondary School, 75 students from Mamallapuram Govt Higher secondary School, 75 students from Payyanur Govt Higher Secondary School, 75 students from Siruthavur Govt Higher Secondary School and 75 students from Illalaur Govt Higher Secondary School etc. They all travelled in as many as 20 buses.
The District Collector Mr. S. Arunraj interacted with these school students before they started their educational trip and he spoke about the objective behind this educational trip. It is worthy to note that the district collector asked the students to take notes and report on what they have learnt in the educational trip. The district collector has instructed the officials belonging to the school education department to award prizes and certificates to those school students who give the best information regarding the educational trip.
Others who took part in the educational tour event were district principal educational officer Karpagam, Thiruporur town panchayat chairman Mr Devraj, district principal education officer personnel assistant Mr. Udhayakumar, PTA president Mr. Asghar Ali and head teacher Themeena etc.
