Chennai Corporation to Set Up EV Charging Stations at 15 Key Locations
With the rise in electric vehicle (EV) usage, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced plans to install EV charging stations at 15 locations across the city to strengthen public charging infrastructure.
In coordination with the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited, GCC has identified beaches, parks, playgrounds, and other government-owned lands in all 15 zones for the initiative.
Some prominent locations include:
- Egmore National Art Gallery
- Magaral Park (Ambattur)
- Chetpet Eco Park, Bougainvilla Park (Anna Nagar)
- Semmozhi Park, Nageswara Rao Park, Marina Beach Parking (Teynampet)
- Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur Beach Parking (Adyar)
- Somasudharam Ground, Corporation Playground (Kodambakkam)
While Ward 104 Councillor T.V. Shemmozhi requested free public charging, Mayor R. Priya clarified that charging will not be free but assured that the installation work will begin soon.
