First list of heritage buildings in Chennai to be submitted to the Government

The first list of 66 heritage buildings including Royapuram Railway Station which is to be submitted to the State Government is in the final stages. It is understood that the committee which will have the meeting on the coming 15th will take some important decisions regarding this.
CMDA has constituted a safety committee to preserve the heritage buildings. The census commenced in the year 2010. During this survey 35o heritage buildings have been identified. In the first stage, the lists of 66 heritage buildings were uploaded in the CMDA’s website.
Royapuram railway station, Madras High Court, Anna University Main Building topped the heritage list. It was also mentioned that the general public can express their views on this by 15th July. But there was less responsive to this. Now after the convening the meeting, the first list of heritage building will be sent to the Tamil Nadu Government.
