Studying in IIT-M or Indian Institute of Technology in Madras would be a dream come true for many students. The reason for that is IITM is one of the premier educational institutes in India and studying at IITM would be an amazing experience. Now, IITM would be introducing BS Chemistry plus few other courses in this academic year 2025-26.
As per the press release from IITM, for the undergraduate or UG courses in fine arts and special cultural studies etc IITM has started admissions. The main aim behind this would be to reward those students who have done exceptionally in fine arts and cultural studies etc.
Process for admission:
It has been mentioned that the admission for these courses would not be based on JOSAA portal or Joint Seat Allocation Authority but based on the website https://ugadmissions.iitm.sc.in/face.
2 New courses introduced:
The requirements of both industries department as well as educational department and students desires have been taken into consideration and news courses like BS Chemistry and M. Tech in electric vehicles studies have been introduced for this academic year 2025-26.
For a 4 year BS Chemistry course, the admission of the students would be based on the aptitude test conducted by IISER. The students could continue for the MS course also. It is learnt that this course has been designed to provide chemistry and science related foundations to the students. In this course, the students would be taught both theory as well as practical aspects and the course would prepare the students in fields like research, job, education etc.
For M. Tech in Electric Vehicles or EV course, the students would be selected based on their performance in GATE. It is well known that the transport department has been facing many amazing changes towards a permanent future. For this electricity plays a huge role. Rapid electrification of two wheelers, three wheelers and commercial vehicles has been going on now. It is now brought to light that the M. Tech in EV courses has been designed by taking these into consideration.
