Visitors to the Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple who are elderly, pregnant, or have disabilities will soon benefit from a free electric vehicle service to make their commute easier. The electric cart, donated by Karur Vysya Bank under its CSR initiative, will operate between the temple’s eastern entrance and the nearby bus stop near the water tank.
The e-vehicle, which accommodates up to five passengers, is part of a donation of three such carts, totaling an investment of Rs 17.91 lakh. While the cart will not operate inside the temple premises, it will serve those in genuine need, such as the elderly and pregnant women. Temple staff will monitor its use, and stickers will be placed on the cart to promote awareness.
Minister P. K. Sekarbabu appreciated the move, stating it would greatly aid devotees, particularly in the summer months. The service will be available during morning and evening temple hours.
