International passengers arriving at Chennai Airport will soon be able to access free Wi-Fi, even without an Indian SIM card, through new self-service kiosks set to be installed by the end of June.
Currently, passengers without Indian SIMs are unable to complete KYC verification required for OTP-based internet access. To address this, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has partnered with Arche Global and BSNL to install kiosks in the arrival and departure halls of the T2 International Terminal.
Passengers will be able to scan their boarding pass and passport at the kiosk to receive a coupon with a One-Time Password (OTP). This will allow them to use 500 MB of data for 45 minutes, helping them book cabs or make urgent calls immediately after arrival.
Initially, two kiosks will be installed, with plans to add more based on passenger demand. Clear signage will also be provided to ensure travellers are aware of the new facility once operational.
