The Higher Secondary Schools run by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) have recorded a pass percentage of 88.12% in the Class 12 public examinations for the academic year 2024–2025. This marks a 1% increase from the previous year’s results, continuing the trend of steady academic progress in GCC-run schools.
The results were announced on May 8 by the School Education Department, along with state-wide Class 12 exam outcomes.
According to official data from the Greater Chennai Corporation’s Education Department:
- A total of 5,387 students from 35 Corporation Higher Secondary Schools appeared for the exams.
- Of these, 4,747 students passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 88.12%.
- Girls once again outperformed boys, with a pass percentage of 91.46% compared to 83.70% among boys.
Subject-wise Centum Achievers:
- 54 students scored full marks (centum) in various subjects.
- Computer Applications led the list with 26 students scoring 100.
- Computer Science followed with 19 students achieving centum.
High Scorers (451–500 Marks):
- 541 students scored between 451 and 500 marks.
- Among them, 404 were girls, while 137 were boys again showing the strong performance of girl students.
Top Performing Schools:
Among the 35 GCC-run schools:
- Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, Nungambakkam achieved a 100% pass rate.
- Kodambakkam Corporation School secured 98.61%, placing second.
- West Saidapet Corporation School ranked third with a 97.36% pass percentage.
The Chennai Corporation continues to support the educational growth of students, with notable achievements in both academic results and girl student empowerment.
