The latest news is that a government order or GO has been issued to increase the festival advance amount to Rs 20000 for the TN government employees and teachers etc.
It must be noted that on 28th April, TN chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin issued 9 new notifications for the government employees and teachers under Rule 110 in the Assembly. An announcement was also made by the chief minister regarding an increase in the festival advance amount. Till now, the festival advance amount of Rs 10000 was provided to the govt employees and teachers etc and it would be increased to Rs 20000. By this, the government employees and teachers etc would be able to celebrate the festivals in a grand manner with their family members.
To implement the announcement made by the CM of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Udayachandran, Finance Secretary issued a GO. It was mentioned in the GO that the order would be applicable for those who are eligible to receive festival advance amount and for those teachers, non-teaching employees and govt employees working in the educational institutions of local bodies, government aided educational institutions. These persons could receive their festival advance amount of Rs 20000 and no change has been made in the method of deduction.
