People who are about to buy new apartment will now be paying 2% in addition towards the registration cost. This is because; the state has made signing the construction agreement between the buyer and the builder as mandatory.
Until now only, UDS- Undivided Share of Land was registered and for which the government charged about 5% towards stamp duty and 2% for surcharge and 1% for registration fees, which overall comes to 8% of the UDS value. Henceforth, the buyer will have to pay 1% additional for stamp duty and 1% for registration. This has come in to act from October 1.
