Central government comes into action to reduce onion price

Posted on: 26/Sep/2013 4:38:17 PM
Onion prices reached their peak in the past few months. The main reason for the exorbitant increase is the onion export in spite of decreased cultivation. The price touched Rs 80 per kilo. Onions of average quality were charged at the range of Rs 45 and Rs 60.

At this juncture, the central government has introduced new rules for onion export. This has made a considerable reduction in the overall onion export from the country. Due to this step, various markets across the country have received large amounts of onions for sale.
