Traffic Diversions Announced for Demolition Work on RK Salai Flyover: Greater Chennai Traffic Police
Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced traffic diversions in and around RK Salai for seven nights starting from Monday, April 8, to facilitate CMRL (Chennai Metro Rail Limited) work involving the demolition of the 7th span of a flyover.
During the night hours from 11 pm to 5 am, the following diversions will be in effect:
1. Vehicles traveling from Anna Flyover towards Kamarajar Salai via Cathedral Road will be diverted at Music Academy Junction. They will take a left onto TTK Road, then turn right at Indian Bank Junction, followed by V.P. Raman Road, Ajanta Junction, V.M. Street Junction, Judge Jambulingam Street, and finally, RK Salai to reach their destination.
2. Vehicles moving from Kamarajar Salai to Anna Salai via RK Salai will be diverted at V.M. Street X RK Salai Junction. They will proceed via V.M. Street, Royappettah High Road (with reverse one-way traffic on P.S. Sivaswami Salai), Vivekananda College Junction, Nilgiris Junction, Music Academy Flyover, and Cathedral Road towards Anna Flyover.
3. Vehicles coming from TTK Road towards Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Music Academy Junction onto TTK Road. They will then turn right at Indian Bank Junction, followed by V.P. Raman Road, Ajantha Junction, V.P. Raman Road X VM Street Junction, Judge Jambulingam Street, and RK Salai X Judge Jambulingam Street Junction to reach their destination.
4. Vehicles traveling from P.S. Sivaswamy Road towards Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Nilgiris Junction onto Music Academy Service Road. They will then turn right onto TTK Road, right at Indian Bank Junction, followed by V.P. Raman Road, Ajantha Junction, VM Street Junction, Judge Jambulingam Street, and RK Salai - Judge Jambulingam Street Junction to reach their destination.
5. Vehicles intending to move via Royapettah one-point service road from Luz Junction - Mundagakanniyamman Koil Street - Kalvivaru Street will be diverted to P.S. Sivaswami Salai (with reverse one-way traffic), then turn right at Vivekananda College Junction, Nilgiris Junction, Music Academy Service Road, TTK Road (right turn at Indian Bank Junction), V.P. Raman Road, Ajantha Junction, VM Street Junction, Judge Jambulingam Street, and RK Salai - Judge Jambulingam Street Junction to reach their destination.
Normal traffic will resume on RK Salai around 5 am each day.
