Traffic Diversion Plan for Republic Day Celebrations in Chennai

In preparation for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26th, significant traffic diversions are scheduled for Kamaraj Road in Chennai on the rehearsal days of January 19th, 22nd, and 24th, starting at 6 am each day.
The Tamil Nadu Government, in an official press release, outlined the following arrangements:
- Restrictions on Kamaraj Road:
Vehicles will not be permitted on Kamaraj Road, stretching from Gandhi Statue to War Memorial, from 6 am until the conclusion of the Republic Day event on January 26th.
- Alternative Routes for Goods and Commercial Vehicles:
Those traveling towards Broadway from the Adyar area on Kamaraj Road are advised to take alternative routes including Sivasamy Road, Radhakrishnan Road, Music Academy, and other specified roads.
- Diversions for Other Vehicles:
Vehicles, including city buses, heading to Broadway from the Adyar area on Kamaraj Road will divert towards Radhakrishnan Road at Gandhi Statue Junction. They will proceed through Rayapetta, Neelgrease, Music Academy, and other designated routes.
- Diversions at Various Junctions:
Vehicles from Dr. Natesan Road, Avvai Shanmugam Road Junction, and Dr. Besant Road towards Kamaraj Road will be redirected at specific junctions such as Ice Outs Junction and Bells Road.
- Temporary Changes to Bus Stops:
The bus stop near Anna Sadukkam will be temporarily relocated near Chindathiripet railway station.
- Special Instructions for Specific Routes:
Detailed instructions are provided for vehicles going towards Adyar from Barimuna, urging them to avoid the Reserve Bank Tunnel and take North Harbor Road via designated roads.
- Reminder to Motorists:
Motorists are reminded that vehicles are not allowed from the junction of Annasalai and Kodimara Illa Road (Walaja Point) towards the War Memorial.
