Traffic Changes in Adyar Area Tomorrow Due to Marathon Run

On Saturday, January 6, the traffic flow in the Adyar area of Chennai will be altered in light of a marathon event. The Chennai Metropolitan Police Department`s Traffic Division issued a press release on Thursday providing details about the changes:

A marathon organized by Chennai Runs in four categories is scheduled to take place on Saturday morning, commencing from Marina Nappi Bridge, passing through Besant Nag Alcott Memorial School, and concluding at the Indian Maritime University. The designated route includes Kamaraj Road, Santhome Highway, Dr. DGS Dinakaran Road, Chathar Patel Road, Rajiv Gandhi Road, KK Road, and East Coast Road.

As a result, traffic adjustments will be implemented in the Adyar region from Saturday morning until the completion of the marathon. Vehicles approaching from Adyar towards Mr. V.K. Bridge, Dr. DGSThinakaran Road, Santhome Highway, Kamaraj Road, and Sardaral Statue can follow their usual route without any changes.

However, vehicles from the war memorial towards Mr. V.K. Bridge will not be permitted, and diversions will be in place from Kodi Marach Road, leading to their destination via Anna Road and Walaja Junction.

For vehicles heading towards Gandhi Statue from RK Road, diversions will be in place at VM Street junction. These vehicles can reach their destination via Rayapetta Highway, Lus Junction, and RK Madam Road.

Vehicles originating from Central Kailash will be prohibited from entering Besant Avenue Road. These vehicles can take the LP Road and reach their destination via Thiruvanmyur signal and Shastri Nag.

Those coming from Gandhi Hall will not be allowed to enter Uttam Gandhi Road. These vehicles can utilize the Indasa Vehicles LP Road, Shastri Nagar, and Thiruvanmyur signal to reach their destination. Additionally, vehicles from Besant Nak 7th Avenue will be directed away from Elliots Beach and redirected towards MG Road. It was clarified that only city buses would be permitted to ply towards the Besant Nag workshop.

Regarding Metro Trains, on the day of the Chennai Marathon, trains will run at 15-minute intervals from 3 am to 5 am on Saturday for the convenience of participants. Participants can travel for free on Saturdays using the travel card with the provided QR code, which also allows for free parking in the designated parking lot for one day. The regular metro train services will resume from 5 am onwards, as per the information provided by the Metro Rail Administration.
