The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has announced the formation of a low-pressure zone over the Andaman area, indicating its likely transformation into a strong depression zone and subsequently into a cyclonic formation on 1st December. Consequently, persistent rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until the 3rd of December.

In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is stated:

"A new low-pressure zone has emerged in the atmosphere over the South Andaman Sea and the adjacent areas. This system is projected to drift towards the west and northwest directions over the southeast Bay of Bengal, transforming into a depression zone on the 29th of November. Over the following two days, it will continue its northwestward drift and evolve into a cyclonic system.

Due to variations in the speeds of the eastern winds, there are possibilities of mild to moderate rain accompanied by lightning and thunder in several locations in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on the 28th and 29th of November. These rainy conditions are expected to persist until the 3rd of December.

Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will experience cloudy conditions for the next two days, with the likelihood of mild to moderate rain, lightning, and thunder in certain parts of the city. The temperature is anticipated to range between 25-31 Degrees Celsius.
