Chennai Metro Rail Pipeline Work Temporarily Disrupts Drinking Water Supply

Chennai residents in multiple zones, including Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Kodambakkam, and Valasavakkam, are advised to brace for a brief interruption in drinking water supply. Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will undertake interconnection pipeline works at Kaliyamman Koil Street at Koyambedu and Arcot Road. Consequently, the drinking water distribution center will be non-operational on November 17 and 18.
Areas Affected:
At least 18 areas, encompassing Arumbakkam, MMDA colony, Choolaimedu, Nungambakkam, Thousand Lights, and others, will experience a pause in the pipeline metro water supply during this period.
Alternative Water Access:
Residents are urged to store sufficient water for these two days. In case of emergency needs, residents can register for drinking water through trucks via the website [cmwssb.tn.gov.in](https://cmwssb.tn.gov.in) (Dial for Water).
Continued Water Supply Measures:
Despite the pipeline work disruption, the supply of drinking water to areas without water connections and low-pressure zones will continue without hindrance through tanks and trucks. The Chennai Metro Water Board`s monitoring and control room will operate 24/7 during the northeast monsoon, addressing complaints about sewage overflow and water supply interruptions. The water board assures the public that they have sufficient equipment and manpower to address and resolve issues promptly.
