November 14, 2023 - As the auspicious 1st day of the Karthikai month approaches on November 17, Sabarimala Ayyappa devotees are preparing for the annual pilgrimage to Sabarimala. The pilgrimage, starting on the 17th, will see a surge in devotees, particularly during the Makaravilakku Pooja darshan on Pongal day in January.

Special Buses for Devotees` Convenience:
To facilitate the journey, the Tamil Nadu Government Transport Corporation has announced the operation of special buses from November 16 to January 16. These buses will run from key cities including Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, and Cuddalore/Puducherry to Sabarimala. The special buses will cater to the diverse preferences of devotees, offering both air-conditioned luxury buses and standard buses.

It`s important to note that special buses will not operate from December 26 to December 29 due to the Sabarimala walk closure from December 27 to December 30. The authorities have also arranged for special government buses for devotees traveling in groups.

Vande Bharat Special Train Service:
In addition to the bus services, a Vande Bharat special train from Chennai to Nellie will be in operation every Thursday from November 16 to December 28. This initiative aims to provide devotees with a convenient and efficient mode of transportation for their pilgrimage.

Devotees from South India, particularly Tamil Nadu, traditionally form a significant part of the Sabarimala pilgrimage, and these arrangements are set to enhance their travel experience during this spiritual journey.
