Counselling for admission to graduate engineering courses commence today (Saturday, 22nd July)!

The applications for admission to the graduate engineering courses were received from the 15th of May until the 9th of June in Tamil Nadu.

The random numbers of candidates who applied for admission to the graduate engineering courses were released on the 6th of July, and the rank or merit list of the applicants was released on the 26th of June.

With the applying candidates and their parents getting a bit anxious about the commencement of the counselling for the graduate engineering courses, the Tamil Nadu State Government for Higher Education, Ponmudi, released the announcement for the same.

The Minister for Higher Education announced that the counselling for admission to the graduate engineering courses for the special cadre candidates will commence today (Saturday, 22nd July) until the 26th of July.

A total of 1.78 Lakh candidates will participate in the counselling for admission to the graduate engineering courses. The counselling for the candidates of the special cadre will be conducted until the 26th of July. Subsequently, the counselling will be conducted in 3 phases from the 28th of July for admission to the graduate engineering courses.

Over 1.50 Lakh seats, available in 430 engineering colleges, are to be filled up.

The first phase of counselling will be conducted from the 28th of July until the 9th of August.

The 2nd Phase of counselling will be conducted from the 9th of August until the 22nd of August.

The 3rd Phase of counselling will be conducted from the 22nd of August until the 3rd of September.

Generally, the counselling for admission to graduate engineering courses is conducted in 4 phases. However, in the academic year 2023-24, the counselling is done only in 3 phases. The counselling for admission to the graduate engineering courses will be completed by the 15th of September.

It has been emphasized that the counselling for the graduate medical courses MUST be completed before the 1st of August.

Under the 7.5% quota reserved for the students from the Government High Schools, 11804 seats are to be filled up.

There are 1.57 Lakh seats available in 430 Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu.

As compared to the last year, 3100 more seats are available this academic year. 178959 candidates have applied to participate in the counselling for admission to the graduate engineering courses.

Action will be initiated to fill up all the available/vacant seats!

New Graduate Courses in engineering � ECE Advanced Technology & ECE Design & Technology � are being introduced this year. In case a candidate joins one college and later changes to another college, the fees paid have to be refunded.

All University Vice-Chancellors` meeting is scheduled to be conducted on the 21st of August. A review will be conducted during this meeting about the university syllabus, as informed by the State Government Minister for Higher Education, Ponmudi.
