Recruitment for Special Police Youth Brigade commenced today

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa with the aim of lessening the burden of state police force has set up the Special Police Youth Brigade. Jayalalithaa had in April last announced that 10,500 youths will be recruited in the first phase this year for the brigade.

 Accordingly the process to absorb men in the age group of 18-25 desirous of joining the Tamil Nadu Special Police Youth Brigade has begun today as per a notification issued by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board.

The brigade will handle responsibilities such as traffic management, driving police department vehicles, distribution of letters, maintenance of police quarters and support the police in handling accident victims.

The personnel, to be recruited through an objective type examination being held on November 10, will be paid a honorarium of Rs 7,500.

Members of the brigade after a year`s service and completion of training will be eligible to appear for a state-level examination and those clearing it will be absorbed in the state Police force.
