Temporary One-Way Traffic Implemented on Prakasam Road in Chennai for Drainage Works

In view of ongoing rainwater drainage works, Prakasam Road, also known as Broadway Road, in Chennai will be converted into a one-way road for a period of 40 days. The temporary traffic arrangement will be in effect from 22nd June 2023 to 5th August 2023.
During this period, vehicular traffic originating from NSC Bose Road (Broadway Junction) towards Stanley Roundabout via Prakasam Road will be prohibited. To ensure smooth traffic flow, alternative routes have been designated for different entry points:
1. Vehicles approaching from NSC Bose Road and Esplanade Road should take the following route: Kuralakam Junction - NSC Bose Road - Paris Junction (Left Side) - Rajaji Road - Ibrahim Road.
2. Vehicles coming from Muthusamy Road are advised to follow this route: Muthusamy Road - Raja Annamalai Forum - North Fort Side Road - Reserve Bank Link Road - Paris Junction - Rajaji Road - Ibrahim Road.
3. For vehicles arriving through the RBI tunnel, the designated route is via Paris Junction - Rajaji Road - Ibrahim Road.
4. Heavy vehicles heading to Kothavalchavadi will continue to be permitted as usual between 10:00 pm and 06:00 am.
5. To enter Prakasam Road from Stanley Roundabout, vehicles can utilize the route: Prakasam Road - Anna Pillai Street.
6. To exit the affected area, motorists should take the route: Anna Pillai Street - Davidson Street - Dada Muthiappan Street - Prakasam Road.
These temporary traffic arrangements have been put in place to facilitate the ongoing rainwater drainage works on Prakasam Road. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the designated alternative routes during the specified period.
