Tamil Nadu government standardizes auto fares

Auto rickshaws, share auto rickshaws and many more services are widely found across Chennai. There are more than 70,000 such service providers in the city. The public have been continually complaining on the exorbitant pricing by such auto drivers. As a step to eliminate all the frustrations in travel, the government has standardized the auto fares.
As per the revised rates, the rate for 1.8 km is Rs 25 and for each and every additional kilometer, the price will be Rs 12. Travel made after 11pm up to 5am will be charged 50% more than the day time charges.
