CM orders to release water for irrigation

Farmers from Cuddalore district and certain other neighboring areas approached the chief minister requesting for releasing water for irrigation. Further to this, the CM – Ms J Jayalalitha has ordered to release water from Veeranam lake from 27th August 2013. About 44,856 acres of land will be benefited from this order. This will include areas from Cuddalore and other few other taluks in Chidambaram and Kattumannarkoil.
In addition, the CM has also ordered the release of water from Tirumurthi dam from 26th August with which the land areas at Tirupur and Coimbatore will be benefitted.
