With the task of reducing and preventing defective number plates on vehicles, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police Inspectors were assigned to visit all the automobile shops and personally ensure that all the defective number plates were removed by the shopkeepers.
As such, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police has further intensified the special drive against the defective number plates on vehicles. One of the steps initiated was to visit and warn the shops selling defective number plates!
So far, a total of 138 shops were visited and checked by the traffic officers for defective number plates in the Chennai Metro City.
So, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police Staff visited all shops in localities under their jurisdiction. They conducted thorough scrutiny in these shops for any number plates of in the number plates as specified in the law and warned the shop owners!
It may be noted that the prominent places where automobile spares including number plates are located in places like General Patters Road (GP Road0 and Muthuppettai.
The shops in these localities were personally visited and checked by the Traffic Police and the merchants were warned in a meeting conducted in this regard!
The Special drive against defective number plates commenced on 13th February to sensitize the vehicle users.
As a result of this special intensified scrutiny, 43367 vehicles rectified their improper number plates!
FURTHER, THE GREATER CHENNAI TRAFFIC POLICE HAS CLAIMED THAT THESE EFFORTS WILL GO A LONG WAY IN CONTAINING THE SPORTING OF FANCY AND IMPROPER NUMBER PLATES ON THE VEHICLES!
