It has been more than 10 years since the Thiru Vi Ka park at Shenoy Nagar in Chennai was closed for the metro rail works. The news now is that this park will be opened for the public soon. Shenoy Nagar in Chennai is an important residential area is known.
It must be recalled that this important park has been closed since the year 2011 onwards for the underground metro rail station construction. Now in a month of time, the park present on 8.8 acres of land would be reopened. There are some superb facilities at this park now such as walking tracks, skating rink, badminton court, basketball court, cricket practice net, outdoor gymnasium, open air theatre or OAT, childrens play area etc.
By the month or by the next month, the park would be opened and this was assured by an official. He hinted about the finishing work at the park that has been there for a while now. The residents belonging to all groups would get benefits in this park as the park has been planned in a thematic manner with many facilities. Earlier, the perk had as many as 328 trees but many were cut down for the sake of metro station construction.
Though the metro station was opened some 6 years back itself, the non opening of this park has made many residents feel unhappy. Now, the park would be opened soon and the residents would feel happy.
It was revealed by a resident that the delay in the opening of the park plus the loss of tree cover here has been making many feel disappointed till now. He expressed his delight regarding the fact that the park would be opened with superb new facilities soon.
