On the special occasion of the celebration of the country`s Republic Day, a 5-tiered security arrangement has been set up in Chennai Metro City! Further, THERE IS A BAN ON FLYING DRONES!
In a notification released in this regard by the Chennai Police Department, it is mentioned:
"On the occasion of the Republic Day on 26th January 2023, the Governor of the State of Tamil Nadu will host the National Flag near the Laborers` Statue located on the Kamarajar Salai-Wallaja Road.
As such, a `5-tiered Security` arrangement has been set up in the Kamarajar Saalai and the surrounding areas in Chennai Metro City.
Security activities have been strengthened throughout the Chennai Metro City with all the respective police stations, and patrol in vehicles will be taken up!
Inspection Stalls have been set up in the main areas of entry to the Chennai Metro City such as Madhavaram, Thiruvotriyur, Madhuravoyal, Thuraippakkam, and Neelankarai and vehicle monitoring on the traffic is being taken up by the Police Staff on duty.
In the areas where large numbers of public gather such as Meenambakkam Airport, Chennai Central Railway Station, Chennai Egmore Railway Station, Koyambedu and Madhavaram Bus terminals, various monitoring activities are to be carried out by SCP (Chennai Police) officials with squads for detecting bombs, squad for deactivating bombs, Sniffing Dogs Section, and the deployment of Coastal Security Guard (CSG) in the Marina Beach will all joint function on monitoring and prevention of any sabotage with Anti-Sabotage Check!
On the occasion of Republic Day, a BAN HAS BEEN IMPOSED ON DRONES AND OTHER UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES FOR 2 DAYS ON 25TH & 26TH JANUARY 2023!
IT IS INFORMED THAT IN CASE OF ANY VIOLATION OF THE ABOVE BAN, IMMEDIATE STRINGENT LEGAL ACTION WILL BE TAKEN ON THE VIOLATORS!"
