Direct Monitoring of traffic rule violations: Any scope for relief for vehicle drivers??

Posted on: 02/Jan/2023 9:16:54 PM
The Chennai Traffic Department is all set to introduce a Direct Traffic Monitoring System in 300 important Junctions throughout Chennai Metro City

It is indicated that the cost of installing the monitoring cameras in important junctions and direct monitoring will be Rs. 1 Crore!

With this introduction, the traffic maps on the website will be updated every 5 minutes!

This facilitates the vehicle drivers to plan their trip in advance and also facilitates the traffic police to judge the intensity of the traffic congestion on given roads and fiver the approaching vehicle to an alternative route!

At present, any proposal to reduce traffic congestion, if found ok, is implemented on a trial basis for a few days and then a decision is taken to continue or not depending on the result of the trial!

On this basis, a plan to introduce a U-turn basis in Anna Salai or Vadapalani 100` Road has been set. This will be implemented during weekends on a trial basis.

It is generally felt that once this system is introduced, it will be extremely convenient for the vehicle drivers on the road, especially on rainy days or when there is acute traffic congestion on certain roads as they will have the facility to watch the traffic situation on their smartphones through Apps!
