Sudden traffic surge near Kutchery Road in Mylapore in Chennai now?

For the metro train work, certain traffic changes have been made at Kutchery Road in Mylapore, Chennai. Now, these traffic changes have led to huge traffic congestion here in the abutting smaller lanes. In addition, the encroachments and haphazard parking of vehicles have also been creating huge issues.
It must be recalled that as a part of the traffic arrangements here the LMV from Kutchery Road to Santhome High Road are diverted at Kalvivaru Street towards Mundakanni Amman Koil Street and Bazaar Road. The vehicles going towards Luz Junction from Santhome High Road via Kutchery Road are diverted at Devadi Street, Middle Street andR.K. Mutt Road etc. Now, there is a huge traffic congestion here due to more vehicles.
According to a businessman here, there is now a need to enforce parking in the lanes and remove encroachments for smooth traffic flow. It was later mentioned by a resident from south Mada Street in Mylapore that haphazard parking of vehicles in small lanes and Mada streets and encroachments etc has been an issue now. He threw light on the importance of public opinion before such measures were put in place. Mylapore MLA Mr. Dha Velu said that soon a solution would be available.
