The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed us that there are prospects for medium rain in Tamil Nadu for the next 5 days!
A low-pressure format is prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the South Bay of Bengal. This is likely to drift towards the Sri Lanka Coastal area in 2 days!
It was earlier informed on prospects for heavy rain on the 20th, 21st, & 23rd of December in Tamil Nadu due to the depression zone but it was withdrawn subsequently.
There Aare prospects for mild to medium rain from today (Tuesday, 20th December) until 24th December for mild to medium rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikkal.
As regards the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will remain somewhat cloudy in the next 24 hours. There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few parts of the city.
The maximum temperature will be 30 Degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 24 Degrees Celsius1
For fishermen
High-speed winds are likely to blow at 35-45 kmph and intermittently at 55 kmph on the 20th & 21st of December across the southeast and southwest Bay of Bengal areas and the adjacent Sri Lankan coastal areas! As such, the fishermen from these areas are warned to refrain from venturing into the sea!
