5 more ITIs to be opened in TN

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa yesterday ordered to start five State-run Industrial Training Institutes at an estimated Rs 26.39 crores because more candidates are seeking admission.

As many as 62 government ITIs were functioning in the State with a sanctioned strength of 28,594 seats and there has been an increase in demand for admissions.

With the need to address the demand for skilled persons, and allow more students join ITI courses, Jayalalithaa has approved five new institutes at Tuticorin, Theni, Tanjavur, Tirunelveli and Ramanathapuram districts.

She has allocated Rs 26.39 crores for this purpose and these ITIs will function in the 2013-14 academic year.
