The increasing temperatures have been given a break by the sudden rains yesterday!!

Downward circulation over Andhra Pradesh has led to the Chennai residents waking up to loud thunder and rain on Wednesday is known. The RMC or Regional Meteorological Centre has revealed that there would be rains in several districts belonging to TN till 9th of October.

According to an officer belonging to RMC, in districts like Chennai, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Perambalur, Thiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Chengalpet, Thirupathur, Ranipet and Mayiladuthurai etc in the state of TN plus in Puducherry and karaikal etc,  there would be heavy rains with thunderstorm activity for the next 4 days. He added that the rains would increase gradually in the coming days.

It must be taken into account that the sudden rains lead to decrease in the temperatures and the maximum temperatures are reduced by 2 to 3 degrees Celius.

Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam in Chennai record maximum temperatures of 27 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. The airport in Madurai recorded the highest temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius. Lowest was recorded in 3 districts like Salem, Erode and Namakkal etc of 22 degrees Celsius.

For the next 2 days, the fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea. The reason for that was due to the strong winds that would blow at speeds of 40kmph to 50kmph over the Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining south TN coast, SW Bay of Bengal of Srilanka coast.

It was later brought to light by some weather bloggers that rains would likely occur over many places on the Peninsular East Coast under the influence of the circulation ofF the coast of AP. There could be heavy rains at one or two places in northern TN. They have mentioned that in Chennai and its suburbs, the rains would increase gradually.
