Raghuram Rajan is next RBI governor

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has approved Mr. Rajan`s appointment, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said Tuesday.
His appointment at the Reserve Bank of India will be for three years, Mr. Chidambaram said.
Rajan will replace D Subbarao, who completes his five-year term on September 4, and will be the 23rd governor of the central bank.
