Whats special about this 2-day Philatelic exhibition in Chennai??

As a part of Azad Ka Amrit Mahostav, Southern Railways or SR began a 2 day philatelic exhibition at its headquarters in Chennai on Wednesday 10th August 2022. This was inaugurated by Mr. B.G. Mallaya General Manager of SR. At the time of inauguration, various other officials were also present. The growth of the Indian Railways has been tremendous in the last 75 years.
Through stamps, first day covers, special covers, postal stationery and picture postcards etc, the growth of the Indian Railways in the last 75 years is being showcased.
The visitors were surprised to see a total of 505 exhibits that included 194 stamps, 93 miniature sheets plus 85 first day covers, 113 special covers. Information is that recently a special postal cover was unveiled in commemoration of the launch of the centenary celebrations at SR headquarters in Chennai.
It is superb to mention that first day covers and special postal covers and commemorative stamps featuring the inauguration of Vaigai Express, centenary celebrations of Chennai Egmore, Nilgiris Mountain Railway and other UNESCO heritage railway sites, railway signals and future trains etc were displayed at the exhibition. It is well known that SR is one of the 18 zones of the Indian Railways.
