Know about the new English labs for the students studying in the govt schools in TN?

To improve the communication skills of the students studying in various government as well as government aided schools in TN, new English language labs would be set up. Recently, it was found that nearly 90% of the students do not have the required English communication skills. The school education department`s idea of having English language labs has come in this scenario.
The school students in the rural places have poor English reading and writing skills. It is now revealed that the English language labs would improve the communication between the teachers and students and also among the students.
The government higher and higher secondary schools in TN would get English language labs and this was as per a senior officer belonging to the school education department. This would be done in phase one. In as many as in 6029 government schools, labs would be set up and it would benefit 35lakhs students.
The senior officer later explained that lack of confidence and poor understanding of the English grammar has been the issues for the school students. The government and government aided school students were unable to compete with the private school students. The activities of the English lab would be designed by the academicians and it would have an expert in-charge.
Various facilities that would be available in the English labs are TV, OHP, computer system and screen, electronic gadgets like microphone, headphones etc. By these, English pronunciation and vocabulary of the students would become better.
The important piece of information is that the English labs would make the learning fun-filled and English lessons would be taken in audio-video sessions and there would be tutorials and student interactions etc. According to the standards of the students, a comprehensive common curriculum would be prepared. The English labs would start functioning gradually in 4 to 5 months.
