Engineering courses are highly sought after by many students now in the state of TN and this has been proved with the total number of applications heading towards 2 lakh mark.
On 10thJune 202, admissions to engineering courses began in the state and the total number of applications touched 1 lakh in just 10 days. This was according to a senior official belonging to the Directorate of Technical Education. He threw light on how within 20 days the total number of engineering registrations had crossed 1.5lakhs.
As many as 173713 students have registered for the engineering courses till 14th July and 123370 students have paid their fees. It is important to note that 19th July would be the last date for the registration to engineering admissions and atleast 10000 students belonging to class 12 state board were expected to enrol. The CBSE class12 public exam results have not been announced yet and once when announced 30000 students were expected to register for engineering courses in the state. There would also be some students from other states who would be registering for engineering courses in Tamil Nadu.
In this year, the number of students getting admitted into the engineering colleges would be increased by another 1.2lakhs when compared to previous year`s figure of more than 80000 students.
The official belonging to DOTE has confirmed that out of a total of 1.70 lakh applicants just 96010 students have paid the fees and uploaded their certificates. He concluded that this would become more soon as many students might opt out of private engineering colleges.
