Elliots beach in Chennai - Whats sensational that will be happening there?

In future, don’t be surprised if you come across an accessible pathway at the highly popular Elliot’s beach in Chennai!!
A location has been identified at this beach in Chennai by the members of DRA or disability rights alliance and some stakeholders for laying an accessible pathway here. The recommendations from these persons have been submitted to GCC now. For laying the accessible pathway at this Beach persons like GCC officials, persons with physical issues, local vendors, fishermen, environmentalists, local residents etc were invited to take part in the meeting that was held earlier in May.
As per a member belonging to DRA it was clear that all the stakeholders were asked to meet at the beginning to take into consideration any issue that could crop up in the future because of the locations identified at the beach .It must not be forgotten that at the Marina Beach location has been finalised for laying accessible pathway. The work regarding this would begin in a short time.
To provide accessible beach experience for those who are differently able, certain requirements must be met, apart from providing an accessible pathway for them. The surrounding pedestrian area must also be accessible. It must be noted that routes from the closest public transport system to the pathway in the beach must be identified also.
The member of DRA later spoke about how there must also be a dedicated parking space and accessible toilets. Information is that the wheel chairs would be made available at the Elliots Beach and they require proper space for storage. Several dedicated persons would be assisting the persons on wheelchairs.
It must be taken into note that since 2016 a temporary pathway was laid on the World Disability Day at one of the beaches in Chennai for those who are differently able to help them to go near the beach.
