The Coronavirus cases have been on the rise once again now in the state of Tamil Nadu. In this scenario, the government of Tamil Nadu has decided to issue fresh standard operating procedures or SOP for the students who would be appearing for the board exams.
It must be noted that the preparations for board exams have already begun and the DGE has also issued hall tickets for the students. Till now, there has been normalcy in Chennai and TN regarding Coronavirus pandemic. Recently, many people from IIT-Madras have been infected with Coronavirus and this has set the alarm bells ringing.
The authorities of the school education department are reviewing preparations. It was later mentioned by a senior officer that wearing face masks would be compulsory for both students as well as invigilators. Extra classrooms might also be converted as examination halls for the sake of physical distancing. It is important to carry out thermal checks on students as well as invigilators.
Those students who have cold or fever symptoms would be allowed to write the exams with separate seating provisions. Around 30lakhs students would be appearing for the public examinations in TN. It must be noted that government and aided schools would provide face masks for students who do not have a face mask.
Financial assistance would also be provided to these schools for buying hand sanitizers etc. The senior officer later hinted about the distribution of zinc and vitamin tablets when needed. To ensure adequate water facilities and provision of soaps etc all the school managements would be instructed.
Information is that schools that have become exam centres would have to submit a report on SOPs being put in place atleast 5 days before the exams. The officials concluded that all the exam centres have been subjected to surprise inspection.
