Many students have been admitted in the government medical as well as in the dental colleges in Tamil Nadu under the 7.5% reservation quota. These students received free laptops from the chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin yesterday. The distribution of laptops took place in Dr. MGR Medical University on Tuesday, 26th April 2022. It must be noted that as many as555 students received laptops from the chief minister as a token of appreciation.
It is noteworthy that in the 2021-22 academic year counselling was conducted for admission to 5932 medical seats in government medical colleges and self funded medical colleges and 1460 seats for dental courses in the TN quota.
Under the 7.5% reservation quota, as many as 445 government school students were admitted in medical courses and as many as 110 students for dental courses. Laptops were distributed to these students yesterday. The chief minister has been urging the Union government to exempt TN students from NEET is known.
The expenses of government school students taking admissions in private medical colleges under the 7.5% reservation quota would be taken care of by the state government. This has been assured by the chief minister. The main objective behind this was to make medical courses available for all students.
