The safety of the teachers in the government schools in Tamil Nadu is not satisfactory now and due to this reason the TN government would appoint a special supervisor or a panel in each school. The main aim would be to identify discourteous students and provide them counselling.
Soon, the schools would have counselling experts and they would be making their presence regularly in the schools. It is noteworthy that since 2021 more than 10 incidents of attacks have been reported against the teachers, especially from the higher secondary schools.
In a village in Hosur in TN, a class11 student slapped an English teacher and this news grabbed the attention in December 2021. In the Krishnagiri district, another teacher of class 8 was attacked by a mob due to a complaint regarding sexual harassment. It is now mentioned that the school head masters would identify teachers or non-teaching staff who have interest to handle irate students and give them counselling. Information collected is that the TN govt is having plans to bring in the teachers employment security rule.
It is known that the school education minister Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi recently condemned the attacks on the teachers in the government schools in Tamil Nadu.
