Counselling for candidates from Government High Schools commences today!

During the counselling session yesterday (Thursday, 27th January) for medical graduation courses MBBS & BDS, 73 seats were filled.

The counselling for the candidates who studied in Government High Schools is scheduled today and is in progress.

Including the 11 new government medical colleges set up in Tamil Nadu, there are 37 government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu and 2 Government Dental Colleges. Out of these, 6999 seats are available under the state government quota in the government and self-financed medical colleges. In the 2 government and self-financed dental colleges, 1930 BDS Seats are available for the State Quota.

Apart from the above, in the self-financed colleges, there are 1145 MBBS seats under the administration quota.

The merit or rank list for these seats available was released recently. In this list, 24849 Students had applied under the State Quota and 14913 candidates had applied under the administration quota.

In the merit list for the 7.5% quota for the students who had studied in Government High Schools, there were 1806 candidates.

In this scenario, the counselling for the special category candidates – differently-abled and heirs of Ex-Military Personnel – was conducted yesterday (Thursday, 27th January) at the Chennai Omandhurar Multi-Speciality Hospital.

Under the category of the differently-abled, there are 212 MBBS seated and 9 BDS seats for a total of 221 seats. But only 76 candidates had applied under this quota. Out of these, 54 candidates were selected as qualified and called for counselling.

Under the Sports Quota, 7 MBBS and 1 BDS seats are available. 152 candidates had applied. Out of these, 18 candidates have been called for counselling. On the category of the heirs of Ex-Military personnel, there are 10 MBBS and 1 BDS seat for a total of 11 seats. 360 candidates had applied. Out of these, 19 candidates were called for counselling. As such, a total of 91 candidates were called for counselling under the special category. Out of these, 88 candidates participated in the counselling.

In the special counselling session, 71 MBBS seats and 2 BDS seats, for a total o0f 73 seats were allotted.

In this situation, the counselling for the candidates who had studied in Government High School, under the 7.5% quotes, has commenced and is in progress.  This counselling for this category will conclude tomorrow (Saturday, 29th January).

Further, the counselling for the General or Common category is scheduled to commence ONLINE from 30th January!
