As many as 29976 persons have been infected with Coronavirus infection in Tamil Nadu in the last 24 hours. As many as 27507 persons have been discharged after recovering from the infection. In Chennai alone in the last 24 hours, 5973 persons have been confirmed to be having Coronavirus infection.
The government has announced a night curfew already in Tamil Nadu from 10pm to 5am in the morning due to the rise in cases. Total lockdown has been implemented on Sundays. The schools and colleges have been closed till 31st January due to the rise in the Coronavirus cases. The classes for the students have been going on through online mode. It was announced by the higher education department that for all other students, except for those in the final semester, the exams would be held online.
Today, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr, M.K. Stalin would be discussing with various health department officials and revenue department officials etc regarding further restrictions or relaxations etc. The meeting will be held at 11am at the Secretariat in Chennai today.
It is now clear that depending on the decisions taken in the meeting extension of lockdown and relaxations etc would be announced by the chief minister.
