The inadequate buses plus discontinuation of direct bus services to Mylapore has now become an issue for the residents in and around Medavakkam in south Chennai.
It must be noted that the bus route no 76 that operated between Medavakkam and Dr MGR Bus Terminus at Koyambedu had good patronage. It was mentioned by the regular commuters like office goers and those who go to the market in Koyambedu that this bus service remained inadequate in the peak hours. This has often made them change 2 buses to reach their destinations.
It is learnt that the Medavakkam residents also want the reintroduction of bus route number M15 between Mylapore and Medavakkam. It was later brought to light by a resident belonging to Perumbakkam that the stoppage of direct bus services to Mylapore has led to the residents belonging to places like Medavakkam, Sithalapakkam etc to take 2 buses to reach their destinations.
It was then mentioned by a senior officer belonging to MTC that there was inadequate service on route number 76 and more than 12 bus services were operated. The officer later spoke about how MTC has been operating more than 14 numbers of Route 14M Extension from Medavakkam to Saidapet and Broadway.
