On Friday, the government of Tamil Nadu inaugurated new projects in Madurai city. These included government buildings, libraries, public health labs etc. The main objective behind this was to improve the infrastructure of the city of Madurai.
At the secretariat in Chennai, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated the projects at a cost of Rs 51.77 crores through video conferencing method. The foundation stone was laid for the projects worth Rs 49.74 crores. Financial assistance of Rs 214 crores was distributed.
It is worthy to mention that some of the buildings that are completed are 5 storeyed residential buildings on the campus of Government Medical College Madurai plus integrated buildings on the premises of Madurai District Collectorate.
The chief minister of Tamil Nadu laid the foundation stone for setting up a city public health laboratory of CPHL. Foundation stone was also laid for urban health and wellness centers etc. Foundation stones for the library buildings were laid and the chief minister launched the renovation works of Arignar Anna Maligai marking the 50th anniversary of the Madurai Corporation office. Financial assistance of Rs 219 crores was distributed to as many as 67831 beneficiaries. This was brought out by the release.
