List of parking lot roads to be shorter still in Chennai

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has asked the Chennai Corporation to take out some roads from its list of roads shortlisted for building parking lots. The request was made as the roads may be used for traffic diversions for the metro rail work. Some of these stretches, which include General Patters Road, Frazer Bridge Road and Blackers Road, will have no parking spots for a few months.
The Corporation has shortlisted areas in which parking lots will come up to help ease parking congestion. The Royapuram zone will have the most lots at 120. Anna Nagar will have 72 parking lots. Lots will come up in areas including Tondiarpet, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, Ambattur, Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Adyar and Perungudi.
