Prime Minister Manmohan Singh congratulated Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa because she paved a smooth path to solve the ongoing terrific NLC issue. Jayalalithaa on Monday spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and thanked him for his intervention in the Centre`s decision to accept her offer to buy NLC shares.`The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister over phone and said his intervention in the issue has brought about a satisfactory agreement. Manmohan lauded Jayalalithaa for her efforts to find an amicable solution to the issue. He said he always maintained harmonious relations with State governments.
The State public sector firms, which would collectively buy the shares, are Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamilnadu Limited (SIPCOT), Tamilnadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC), Tamilnadu Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (TUFIDCO) and Tamilnadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (POWERFIN).
