Sri Lankan born physician given Lifetime Award

Prof. Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, President of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) has been conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 3 day ‘Ferticon 2013’. This event, organized by Aakash Fertility Centre and Hospital in Chennai, is a National symposium on Fertility and High Risk Pregnancy.
Prof. Arulkumaran had recommended to pass the bill legalizing abortion in Ireland following the death of Indian born Savita Hallapannavar. Sri Lankan born Arulkumaran is also the former President of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. He is also the President Elect of the British Medical Association.
