This unused U turn has been removed - No more traffic congestion at Madhya Kailash Junction on OMR in Chennai!!

Madhya Kailash is an important junction in south Chennai and this place has been witnessing heavy traffic congestion for many years. Every inch of space on this road is occupied by the motorists. An unused U Turn here on OMR Road has been creating many issues for the public. The news is that on Thursday this unpopular U turn was removed by the traffic police.
On Wednesday, this issue was brought to the notice of joint commissioner of traffic Mr. S. Rajendran and he gave assurance that he would provide a solution.
Some years back, when there was no right turn for the vehicles coming from Tidel park junction to Madhya Kailash Junction, this U turn barricaded lane was readied by the traffic police personnel.
It is worthy to note that the traffic police personnel started allowing a right turn at the junction for those vehicles coming from the Tidel Park but they had also provided another right turn at the middle of the road stretch between Tidel Park and Madhya Kailash. At the junction, the barricaded U turn remained inspite of any motorist using it. In the last few years, this particular lane turned into a bottleneck for the vehicles entering OMR or Rajiv Gandhi Road from Sardar Patel Road.
The motorists from Tidel Park side were able to freely take the right turn or U turn from the junction and this barricaded lane became a hindrance. It is known that between Tidel Park and Madhya Kailash the road width has been reduced.
