There has been a delay in recruiting teachers for the government and government aided schools belonging to Tamil Nadu now.

To overcome this issue, the institutions were asked to appoint temporary teachers with consolidated salaries. At present, nearly 5000 posts for teachers are vacant in the higher secondary schools in Tamil Nadu. This was mentioned by a senior officer belonging to the school education department. He threw light on how the headmasters of the schools were asked to appoint qualified persons on consolidated salaries as the TN government would be conducting board examinations for the students belonging to classes 10 to 12.

It is learnt that the temporary teachers would be appointed for various subjects such as computer science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, commerce, economics and accountancy. Currently, many science lab assistant posts are also vacant and this would affect the science students who have practical classes. The salaries could be given to the newly appointed teachers from the government funds that have been allocated to the parents-teachers association in the state run schools. Many post graduate teachers have sought transfers to various high and higher secondary schools and the counselling for them would begin soon. It is worthy to note that the teachers who have been appointed temporarily would also get a chance to work when the existing teachers take a long leave.

Point to be noted is that not only high and higher secondary vacancies would be filled but the existing vacancies in elementary and middle level schools also would be filled up.
