Velachery-St Thomas Mount MRTS link Paused

The MRTS road – Mass Rapid Transit System which connects St Thomas Mount and Velachery has been paused due to few legal issues on land acquisition. The project value is nearly Rs 495 crore. When enquired about the issue with the CMDA, they stated that there are hindrances in obtaining the 4 acre land for the 5km wide road.
They also added that nearly 67% of the total cost is shared by the union government and the remaining is by the state government. The MRTS road project is highly important as it connects Velachery with St Thomas Mount in a single loop.
