State Government of Tamil Nadu permits 14 days special leave for its employees!

Right from March 2020, lockdown conditions were imposed throughout the country as a preventive measure against the raging spread of the 1st & 2nd waves of the coronavirus pandemic! Most of the government services were withdrawn during this period! As such, the Government Employees were constrained to remain in their residences! However, it was considered a duty period.

At the same time, essential services such as Police Department,  Medical/Health-related operations, and Fair Price Shops, etc., were open and these employees were allowed to work even during the lockdown imposition.

After this, relaxation was announced gradually and regularly and the government organisations resu8med working.

The State Government Employees were working on a rotation basis.

Meanwhile, the employees had a query about how to take/claim holidays in case they/their family members were affected with coronavirus.

As such, the State Government Employees’ Unions demanded that Special Casual Leave (SCL) MUST be granted for this purpose!

The AIADMK Government at that time accepted this demand and released a Government Order that the State Government Employees can claim 14 days’ special leave when they need to be in Isolation treating it as incidental leave.

However, this leave has not been granted to date to those who applied for the same following the Government Order!

In this regard, the Primary Education Officer of Chengalpattu District sent a petition asking for an explanation regarding the Government Order for 14 days special leave and subsequent rejection.

This query has been replied to by a Special Government Department Section that in case the government employee or their family members are affected by a coronavirus, the concerned may be given 14 days of incidental leave. Henceforth, this special incidental leave can be availed by the State Government Employees!
