Imagine going to a fish market without any traffic issues and having the choice of selecting a variety of fishes from more than 350 vendors!! Soundís incredible isnít it!!
It is now said that in a year the residents of Chennai would be able to drive to Marina facing Loop Road and could park their vehicles inside the fish market. The 8000 sq m side in Dumingjuppam facing the Marina Beach would be home to one of the biggest fish markets. This would become a reality if the plans of GCC go well. It must be remembered that an amount of Rs 10 crores was allotted recently for this purpose by the civic body.
It must be taken into note that the proposed facility would have a spacious entry with stalls located on the periphery in a rectangular structure. The size of every fish stall would be 25 sq ft and there would be tap points and separate drainage channels. In the parking space, as many as 110 cars and 60 bikes could be parked at a time. The issue of traffic congestion would not be there when this new spacious fish market comes up in a year`s time. The number of stalls could be scaled up and this was as per an official. He hinted that this was how the new facility had been planned. He concluded that at present 355 stalls are being built here. The stalls would have LED lighting and the floorings would have kota and granite stones.
